A unique technology accelerator focused on helping people and businesses thrive in a post-pandemic world.

Applications are now closed

Application Deadline Extended to Friday 30 October

In the light of recent global disruption, our Smart City Innovation accelerators’ overarching theme is centred around supporting human to human services enhanced by technology. The project is centred around a 12-week testbed programme where start-ups will have the opportunity to test and demonstrate groundbreaking products and services.

In this post-pandemic world we have an opportunity to create a profoundly positive impact on the way people adapt and thrive. At the heart of our Smart City Innovation Testbed is a passion for technology, the role of places and how they can adapt to support how people live, work, play and learn.

What is the role of places where we live, work, play and learn in the future?

How can places evolve and adapt to encourage meaningful interaction and creativity?

How can technology enhance safety in existing and new building design?

Can technology positively enhance future business models for small and large-scale developments and the organisations they support?

About the accelerator programme

The basis of the programme is focused on helping emerging businesses demonstrate how they can create value in a real-world environment. The programme is action-based and will be laser-focused on tangible outcomes. Successful applicants will gain access to a range of carefully chosen learning events and practical opportunities. The tailored programme, devised by UP, will see the cohort engage with a range of experts from related fields provided by UP, Catapult and MediaCityUK.
